Four LSU gymnasts took home Southeastern Conference honors and as conference season saw its end, the league announced on Thursday.
Leading the league on vault and floor with respective average scores of 9.941 and 9.952, senior all-arounder Ashleigh Gnat was named the SEC Specialist of the Year.
Over the season, Gnat captured 22 individual titles and posted six perfect 10s, which no other LSU gymnast had ever accomplished.
Tiger freshmen all-arounders Sarah Finnegan and McKenna Kelley earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors for their performances at the SEC Championship on March 19.
Finnegan’s 9.925 on beam and Kelley’s 9.925 on floor marked the highest scores by freshmen on the respective events and make part of LSU’s eight overall members on the SEC All-Freshman Team since the honor was created in 2011.
All-SEC recognitions were also given out to sophomore Myia Hambrick along with Gnat and Finnegan for her performance in the conference’s championship meet for her 9.925 on the uneven bars.
Hambrick’s 9.925 second-place finish on bars mark the Temple, Georgia, native’s second All-SEC honor after she was awarded for her 9.950 vault performance at the SEC Championship last season.
