FORT WORTH, Texas —
WHO: No. 3 LSU (27-5) vs. No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Florida, No. 4 Alabama, No. 8 UCLA and No. 9 Georgia
WHEN/WHERE: 8 p.m. at the Fort Worth Convention Center
HOW: After a near-perfect Friday performance, LSU rallied to bolster the program’s highest NCAA Semifinal team score of 197.3375 — good for a Super Six-qualifying second-place finish.
To LSU coach D-D Breaux, though, LSU must vastly improve before competition time on Saturday to contend for a National Championship.
“What we did today won’t be good enough,” she said. “We’ve got to be a little bit better. This team knows that. It’s hard to get into this, but once you get into this, you’ve got to just let it go.
Saturday’s Super Six will mark the first National Championship meet for nine of LSU’s 15 gymnasts.
“They know what’s at stake,” said junior all-arounder Ashleigh Gnat.
“This team gets after it and goes for the big score,” Breaux said. “That’s what you have to win this.”
PREVIOUSLY: LSU has competed against all Super Six-quailfying teams this season — except UCLA —and boasts a 6-5 record against remaining contenders.
