The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance told the University on Thursday it would halt all TOPS payments “immediately until further notice,” according to LSU Media Relations.
“We received the email today from LOSFA and are unsure of the implications at this time,” LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard said in a text. “We should know more through the special session.”
LOSFA sent the same message to all of the state’s other TOPS eligible institutions this afternoon in an email.
LSU President F. King Alexander recently indicated the $870 million mid-year shortfall could result in fee increases of up to $1,400 per student.
