The Southeastern Conference coaches have selected the LSU baseball team to finish second in the Western Division, the league announced Thursday morning.
The Tigers sit behind Texas A&M, which received eight first place votes, for the top spot in the division. LSU gather five first place votes, while Mississippi State received one.
The coach chose Florida, which received 13 first place votes, as the Eastern Division winner and overall league winner. Vanderbilt follows Florida with one first place vote in its own division and for the league title.
The coaches also named the preseason All-SEC First and Second Team members, and three Tigers are among the conference’s elite.
LSU sophomore right-handed pitcher Alex Lange is one four pitchers on the All-SEC First team, joining Florida’s AJ Puck and Logan Shore and Arkansas’ Zach Jackson. The Gators have a league-high six players on the All-SEC First Team.
The coaches also selected Tiger junior center fielder Jake Fraley and junior left-handed pitcher Jared Poche’ as All-SEC Second Team members. LSU tied three other teams with two players apiece on the second team.
