Junior forward Craig Victor II is slated to return to the lineup in LSU’s next game, said coach Johnny Jones on Friday.
Victor incurred a suspension for violating an unspecified team rule, which held him out of LSU’s first three regular season games. But Jones said he will suit up and play in the Battle For Atlantis tournament next week.
“I can tell you that he will be playing with us,” Jones said. “His first game will be with us in the Bahamas versus Wichita State.”
LSU plays Wichita State at 11 a.m. on Nov. 23 at Imperial Arena in Paradise Island, Bahamas, before matching up against Louisville or Old Dominion on day two.
The 6-foot-9 forward from New Orleans scored 11.5 points and grabbed 5.6 rebounds per game in 25 contests last season after transferring from Arizona.
Jones said Victor was an important locker room figure despite not suiting up the first three games. Sophomore guard Antonio Blakeney said Victor delivered an impassioned speech at halftime of LSU’s 78-70 victory against North Florida, which junior forward Duop Reath labeled “fiery.”
“He’s gone a good job in the locker room at halftime making sure they address some things,” Jones said.
