“I’ll love it,” Orgeron said at his post-practice press conference Thursday, two days before Orgeron and LSU head to Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Saturday to play his former employer — where he said he only made $25 every two weeks.
“I was happy to get the check,” Orgeron said. “It’s an SEC game. I get excited when I go into a big game and go into somebody else’s stadium and the challenges. The competitor comes out in you.”
Injury updates
Junior left tackle K.J. Malone is expected to play Saturday, Orgeron said. Malone missed time because of a bicep injury during the Tigers 10-0 loss to No. 1 Alabama.
Malone missed a series during the loss, but entered back into the game and played at left tackle.
Orgeron said sophomore offensive lineman Maea Teuhema and sophomore right tackle Toby Weathersby have been rotating at the right tackle spot. Orgeron did not name a starter at that position for Saturday.
Sophomore cornerback Kevin Toliver is questionable with an unspecified injury. Toliver did not play against Alabama and also did not play in the Tigers’ 16-14 loss to Wisconsin on Sept. 3. Toliver has played in seven games this season and started in five.
Freshman cornerback Kristian Fulton will likely miss the rest of the season, Orgeron said. The former five-star cornerback had surgery on his finger and has played in two games this season.
Campbell reinstated, Ferguson still suspended
Freshman offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell suspension has been lifted after he was arrested on two counts of battery in Atlanta, Georgia, during LSU’s bye week on Georgia Tech’s campus.
Sophomore wide receiver Jazz Ferguson is still suspended indefinitely, Orgeron said.
