Money tends to be tight for college students. Compiled below is a list of the top three places you can grab a tasty meal on a budget.
#1: The Chimes
Located on Highland Road, just walking distance from campus, The Chimes has a menu full of seafood delights.
While the menu is relatively expensive, there are plenty of options for you to choose from for under $10, including the Chimes crab cakes, which are made with crab, shrimp and crawfish stuffing for $8.95.
Other options, such as the spinach and artichoke dip with the restaurant’s speciality bowtie pasta, are also available for $9.
If you decide to go with a friend, you can pool your money together to get the Half and Half (Half and Half) fried seafood platter. Choose between shrimp oyster and catfish served with tossed salad, hushpuppies and fries for $17.95.
#2: Walk-Ons
If you’re free Wednesday night, be sure to take a break from studying and check out Walk- Ons’ College Night. Surround yourself with a restaurant-full of your peers and watch sports on every television screen while you order anything on the menu for half-off starting at 5 p.m.
Though regularly priced at $7.49, you can purchase waffle cheese fries loaded with monterey jack, cheddar, bacon, banana peppers and green onions served with a side of chipotle ranch for under $4.
You can also try the delicious Bayou Pasta, typically $14.99, for only $8. Treat yourself to the Linguine pasta tossed in a crawfish cream sauce, topped with fried shrimp and green onions and served with garlic bread.
For that sweet tooth, get the warm cookie sundae for under three dollars on college night. A fresh baked chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup will definitely hit the spot.
#3: Roul’s Deli
Located on the same corner as The Chimes, Roul’s Deli also offers savory specials perfect for a college student’s budget.
All day Wednesday, you can purchase a hamburger combo that can come dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mayo, mustard and grilled onions. Pick either a hamburger, cheeseburger, Swiss burger, mushroom burger, barbecue burger or an A-1 steak sauce burger for just $5, including fries and a drink.
