Pumpkin man attempting to steal spotlight from creepy clowns
A 40-year-old man was arrested after causing a disturbance while wearing a pumpkin costume, LSUPD spokesperson Lt. Kevin Scott said.
On Oct. 13, LSUPD responded to the X60 parking lot on West Lakeshore Drive, where a white male was reportedly yelling and cursing while dressed in a pumpkin costume, Scott said.
A witness in the area reportedly asked the man to leave before police, Scott said.
LSUPD later made contact with the man, non-student Joshua Finklea, who was hiding at a chapel on campus, Scott said.
According to Scott, Finklea was not wearing the pumpkin costume when he was confronted by LSUPD. The costume was later recovered on the west side of the International Cultural Center, Scott said.
Finklea was arrested for disturbing the peace and was issued a misdemeanor summons before being released, Scott said.
Four arrested after gameday brawl on Parade Ground
Three non-students and one University student were arrested after being involved in a fight on the Parade Ground last gameday.
According to the affidavit of probable cause from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, LSUPD responded to the north area of the Parade Ground around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Officers observed the four — non-students Andrew Cullinane, Cooper Tedesco, Matthew Cullinane and University student Shafer Micakal — engaging in a fight, according to police records. After ordering the four to stop fighting several times, a chemical agent was used to gain control and compliance, according to police records.
After the chemical agent took effect, all four then complied with the order to cease fighting.
During the altercation, a tent belonging to a separate victim was damaged, according to police records.
All four were arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for disturbing the peace and simple criminal damage to property.
University student sexually assaulted near Christ the King
Non-student Eric Pugh, 58, was arrested after sexually assaulting a University student, Scott said.
Around midnight on Oct. 5, LSUPD responded to a student victim who reported Pugh had attempted to kiss her and grabbed her crotch outside of her clothes, according to Scott.
Scott said the victim had reportedly encountered Pugh on Highland Road near State Street when he offered to walk her home. When the two were near Christ the King Catholic Church, the victim followed Pugh to a secluded area where he attempted to sexually assault her, Scott said. The victim then returned home and contacted police, according to Scott.
Through their investigation, LSUPD obtained an arrest warrant for Pugh and he was arrested on Oct. 14. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the charge mentioned above.
