LSU’s offense and defense are moving, so it seems.
In Monday’s practice — or “Tell the Truth Monday,” as LSU coach Ed Orgeron nicknamed the Tigers’ shortened practice Monday — both first team units were sending men across the field before the snap.
Offense
“Tempo!” Orgeron shouted as LSU’s first-string offense went against the Tigers first-team defense.

Predictably, LSU aligned in spread formations, part of Orgeron’s up-tempo, spread-the-ball offensive movement he and offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger are installing in LSU’s offense.
The Tigers, once on Monday, sent fullback J.D. Moore and tight ends Colin Jeter and Desean Smith in a trips bunch package. Moore was motioned out of the trips set and back behind Tiger quarterback Danny Etling before a toss dive to the left side from the I-formation.
On another occasion, LSU split one of its fullbacks out wide at receiver before motioning the fullback back into the I-formation.
Also moving: LSU’s offense line.
It’s clear the Tigers — without normal starters Will Clapp and Toby Weathersby — intend to start senior center Ethan Pocic at right tackle.
Pocic’s move brings in Andy Dodd at center. The rest of the offensive line is similar to what LSU’s shown before: (from left tackle to right) K.J. Malone, Maea Teuhema, Dodd, Josh Boutte, Pocic.
Defense
LSU’s moving on defense, too, shifting nickelback Tre’Davious White into a lone free safety role.
Defending against a motioning scout team offense, LSU aligned safeties Jamal Adams and Rickey Jefferson in press coverage against wide receivers, shifting White into the solo safety role where he can roam freely.
