LSU adds another star to its 2017 recruiting class.
Four-star combo guard/forward Brandon Rachal committed to LSU Wednesday, roughly two hours before LSU coach Johnny Jones is scheduled to meet with the media for LSU’s annual in-house media day.
Rachal, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound wing, averaged 15 points last season at Nachitoches Central en route to state championship season — the school’s second state title in the last three seasons.
Rachal visited Jones and associate head coach Robert Kirby two weeks ago before officially visiting Texas A&M last weekend.
The No. 22 small forward in Scout.com’s 2017 class told the website “it hit him” when on a visit at LSU recently that Baton Rouge may be the place for him.
“I want to come in and be a killer,” he said. “I’m going to be good on defense and offensively, I’m so versatile. I think I can play and defend any position on the court so I think being able to do that and surrounding me with other players that are versatile can open up a lot of what we do as a team and caused problems for different schools.”
