Two blue ice cream scoops dripping from a sprinkle-covered waffle cone, a woman browsing vinyl records in a shop and a newly married couple kissing amongst a cloud of smoke were a few of the Instagram shots posted by local Baton Rouge photographers.
Different in style, product and personality, these local photographers are guaranteed to add some excitement to your Instagram feed.
Adam Vo
@tvadv
Portrait Photographer
Dark, urban and edgy photos compose Adam Vo’s Instagram profile like an online art gallery. Each photo tells a story, with Vo’s subjects acting as characters.
In addition to working as a freelance photographer, Vo is a nursing senior at Southern University. He captures photos of people, events and landscapes along the way.
Vo’s modern and street style beam from his personal clothing, photo captions and overall profile.
“I’m really influenced by film photography,” Vo said. “I like to give a vintage look to our modern world. I don’t really photoshop to modify people’s faces or anything like that. It’s just not my style, and I like to show realness.”
Vo uses his iPhone and Canon DSLR camera to take photos, as the presentation of his Instagram is important. Aiming to maintain a clean profile, he posts his photos in sets of three, so his media appears aligned.
TahJah Harmony
@quaintandwhim
Lifestyle Photographer
Studio Arts alumna TahJah Harmony received her first camera when she was eight years old. Inspired by impressionist painter Claude Monet, Harmony’s photographs are bright, clean and usually contain a form of human interaction.
“I look at my Instagram as a grid of nine,” Harmony said. “In those nine images, I am hoping you can learn something personal about me, share something inspirational or behind the scenes, show the type of photography I enjoy documenting and also see some of my calligraphy work.”
Harmony takes photos with film and DSLR cameras. Her Instagram profile is composed of photos filled with emotion and natural light.
A lifestyle photographer, Harmony captures genuine moments, adding feel-good Instagram posts to her follower’s feeds.
Katie Barnett
@vividreamadventures
Lifestyle Wedding Photographer
Packed with personality and humor, Barnett’s social media presence is as fun and bold as her photography.
Between Barnett’s Instagram stories of her dancing in the car and humorous captions under off-guard photo finds, Barnett provides her Instagram followers with dreamy and dramatic photos from weddings, couple portraits and personal travels.
“I love working one-on-one with people because it’s super relaxed and I enjoy bringing out the best in my subjects,” Barnett said. “I have always been an open book, and I think I’m so honest and genuine, people feel comfortable around me to be who they really are. While I’m taking photos, sometimes I will straight up tell people, ‘Damn, you look incredible!’”
Kristen Soileau
@kristensoileauportraits
Elopement and Wedding Photographer
Rustic and cool-toned, Soileau’s Instagram grid contains a little bit of everything. A baby with a birthday hat, a bride tiptoeing to her groom in a forest and cats sprawled out on a couch are just a few types of images on Soileau’s feed.
Soileau’s favorite type of photography is of elopements. She enjoys the intimacy and freedom within an elopement compared to weddings which are less focused on the couple.
“I want to be another friend in the room with my clients, not someone they paid to be there,” Soileau said. “I don’t want to interfere with the atmosphere. I only want to add. I love when clients come back to me and say, ‘You made me look better than I am.’ I only hope to show them who they actually are, but from my perspective.”
Soileau also uses Instagram to interact with other photographers, her clients and share videos of her kittens and her Kylie Jenner impersonations.
