Baton Rouge Police responded to a call about a body found outside the University House-Baton Rouge apartment complex Tuesday morning. The body was identified as Jacob Seaman.
4:58 p.m.
LSU Media Relations confirmed that Seaman was a former University student. The list of May 2016 graduates shows Seaman graduated from the College of Engineering.
4:34 p.m.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office identified the body found at University House as Jacob Seaman. The death was ruled accidental, and the cause of death was multi-system trauma, secondary to the fall.
11:40 a.m.
University House posted a statement on a closed Facebook group for residents to express condolences and provide information. The post said the apartment officials were informed of the body around 7:16 a.m.
The post said the complex arranged for the LSU Student Health Center to offer counseling services.
The statement was signed by Mitchell Smith, the chief operating officer for Scion Group, LLC, which acquired University Housing Communities earlier this month.
10:15 a.m.
BRPD spokesperson Sgt. Don Coppola said the deceased is a 20-year-old male. The police do not believe he lived or worked at the complex, Coppola said.
The death is believed to be accidental and occurred around 6:15 a.m., Coppola said. The investigation is ongoing, and police have not confirmed if the deceased was a University student.
9:00 a.m.
The coroner, fire department and police officers left the scene, and the area is now clear for residents to enter and exit the building.
Residents say the deceased is male.
8:40 a.m.

According to witnesses, someone fell from the building around 5:30 a.m. A BRPD officer on the scene confirmed that someone fell.
