With a bustling crowd of tailgaters, the smell of jambalaya and the sound of the golden band from Tigerland it’s clear football season is here.
On an average gameday at LSU, tents cover the University’s campus and flags featuring Mike the Tiger billow in the wind. As you and your friends navigate the madness on your way to the stadium, tailgaters can usually be seen packing up and sharing one last drink before the big event.
Outside the stadium, fans wait to become part of an LSU football game in Tiger Stadium. But this season, something seems different in the bag check line. Before you know it it’s your turn to hand over your tiger card and get your bag searched. That’s when security informs you that the cute, black leather tote you got on sale yesterday is absolutely not allowed.
LSU’s new clear bag policy, “Geaux Clear,” is now in effect at all University sporting events. Only clear totes no larger than 12-by-6-by-12 , small purses no larger than 4.5-by-6.5 and one-gallon zip-top plastic bags are allowed into the stadium.
But, if you don’t have time to head to the nearest boutique to purchase a clear bag before Sept. 17’s game against Mississippi State University or all the clear bags are sold out, here are a few cute and classic game day looks styled with some alternatives to the elusive transparent purse.
Look one: This Vera Bradley wristlet is made with faux leather and has more than enough storage for your tiger card, I.D. and money. Because it’s black, it can go with pretty much any outfit, especially one perfect for gameday, like this look.
Look two: This lavender Vera Bradley has a roomy front compartment to hold lip balm, blotting sheets, or anything else you consider an essential. In the back, a zippered compartment holds up to eight cards and has room for all your cash.
Look three: This envelope-style, smaller option from Target has just enough storage for four cards and some cash. The gold detailing makes it easy to pair with your gold jewelry on game days.
