What to watch for:
How many touches does Leonard Fournette get?
On Wednesday, LSU coach Les Miles declined to answer if Fournette practiced earlier this week, but he did say Fournette’s ankle is doing fine. The 6-foot-1, 235 pound tailback missed the final play of LSU’s 16-14 loss to Wisconsin, after injuring his ankle. Miles also did an interview with LSU’s Emily Dixon on Friday and said Fournette would be a gametime decision.
Will the passing game make any improvements?
LSU’s passing game and junior quarterback Brandon Harris struggled last week against the Badgers. Harris only threw 131 passes yards and threw two interceptions in the loss. Miles said in that Harris was taking an “onus” on him from the team’s loss.
Can Jacksonville State hang tough with LSU?
Last season the Gamecocks were one play away from defeating then No. 6 Auburn. Jacksonville State has 13 FBS transfers on its roster, including former LSU wide receiver Kevin Spears. However the Tigers aren’t taking the Gamecocks lightly, said senior safety Rickey Jefferson.
“They’re a very quality team,” Jefferson said. “They have a lot of guys that feel like they were overlooked or have been through certain situations that brought them to a school like that. Watching the film, the receivers and skill people are very good. They’re not slow.”
