Junior running Leonard Fournette is still a game-time decision for LSU versus Missouri at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
At his post-practice press conference, LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron said Fournette hasn’t practiced at all this week.
“As of right now I don’t know if he’s going to play or not,” Orgeron said about Fournette.
Sophomore offensive tackle Toby Weathersby will not play this weekend, Orgeron said. Weathersby did not play versus Auburn last Saturday and was injured during the Tigers 23-20 against Mississippi State.
Senior center Ethan Pocic and Kevin Toliver will play Orgeron said.
However, junior defensive end Davon Godchaux’s status for this weekend is still up in the air.
Godchaux was arrested for false imprisonment on Monday, but the East Baton Rouge district attorney’s office decided to drop the charges on Tuesday.
“He’s been practicing,” Orgeron said. “Seems like thing have cleared up. We still have a few discussions to make. It’s a day-by-day basis, but I think everything is looking pretty good.”
For LSU’s offense, Orgeron said it’s “impossible” for LSU to implement and install a new offense in a few weeks.
“In order to put in a new offense and a new philosophy, that’s not going to be done this season,” Orgeron said. “We have to go with the terminology with what the plays are and tweak them the best way we can.”
Missouri has the first-ranked offense in the SEC, and to prepare for its high-powered offense, Orgeron added a few wrinkles to practice this week.
“We’ve run two offensives going at the defense back-to-back-to,” Orgeron said. “We’ve practiced really fast. I think Dave Aranda had a great plan all week. He’s been against these offense before. Obviously you have to simplify. It’s like basketball on grass.”
