Notes
- Under Les Miles, LSU is 57-7 when a running back reaches the 100-yard mark, including a 4-0 record against Auburn.
- A win on Saturday would tie LSU coach Les Miles with most wins against SEC opponents in LSU’s program history — tying Charles McClendon’s school record for wins in SEC play of 65.
- Series: LSU leads Auburn, 28-21-1 — Les Miles is 8-3 against the Tigers and 2-2 at Jordan-Hare.
Danny Etling, first road start
Through seven quarters as LSU’s starting quarterback, Danny Etling has led LSU’s offense to 25 of 44 passes for 315 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Etling, a transfer, made road starts during his brief career as a Purdue Boilermaker, but Saturday will mark Etling’s first road start in a noted hostile environment: Jordan-Hare Stadium
“Obviously [Jordan-Hare’s] going to be a tough place to play,” Etling said, “but it’s something that we can handle. It shouldn’t be the deciding factor in whether we win or lose.”
Offensive line injuries
Four LSU lineman went down in the Tigers’ 23-20 win against Mississippi State last weekend, including: Will Clapp (shoulder), K.J. Malone (cramps) and Josh Boutte (cramps). The fourth man, right tackle Toby Weathersby, reportedly did not make the trip to Auburn and will miss today’s game, according to The Advocate. Miles said Maea Teuhema would start in Weathersby spot if he was unable to play.
Clapp, Malone and Boutte are all expected to go after spotty rest from practice this week.
