Making its campus debut, the UConnection app plans to stick around for semesters to come. The app focuses on providing students with great dining and nightlife experiences while promoting amazing deals, such as a free appetizer or a restaurant discount,
A national movement, UConnection can be found at Alabama State University, among other schools. Sororities, fraternities and club members are encouraged to download the free app.
UConnection campus representative and finance senior Donovan Craft said the app will put affordable eating at students’ fingertips. With restaurants like Kona Grill, Rotolo’s Pizzeria, Caliente Mexican Craving Restaurant and Sonny’s BBQ listed as options, weekly deals are guaranteed to satisfy students’ late night cravings.
“I’m excited to see this take off,” Craft said. “Campus is responding well.”
Over the summer, Craft worked closely with a team of three other interns to ensure they would achieve the vision of founders Zach Hunter and Taylor Meyer throughout campus. Meeting as freshmen in 2012, Hunter and Meyer visualized the app during an entrepreneurship class.
With a personal goal of making LSU the No. 1 campus for UConnection nationally, Craft looks to his bosses for inspiration, always promoting local deals.
UConnection takes advantage of every opportunity available in a college town.
In addition to food, the app offers exclusive deals on job opportunities. If any restaurant associated with the app is hiring, users will be notified through the app.
The app also lets students manage their finances while keeping a record of their savings.
With plans for implementing events like Restaurant Week and parties, UConnection aims to better its brand.
“We are well on track to reach our first goal of 1,000 users,” Craft said.
