Les Miles exited Tiger Stadium in 2015 triumphantly but entered this season on the hot seat.
It took a new face in the pocket to turn things around.
“Brandon wasn’t comfortable. We felt like we should but Danny in and he was productive right away,” Miles said.
Miles pulled Brandon Harris in the first half for backup Danny Etling. Etling’s teammates had nothing but good things to say about his performance.
“He did a great job of filling in for Brandon and really brought our momentum up,” Derrius Guice said.
“I feel like he did great things,” Tre’Davious White said.
Running back Leonard Fournette was sidelined after injuring his ankle last week in Wisconsin.
Guice got the start and with him in the backfield the Tigers said, “no Leonard, no problem.”
“When he’s not in I gotta step in and do what we called to do,” Guice said.
“I like Guice. He had 19 carries and 155 yards,” Miles said.
The Tigers weren’t perfect.
“Missed an extra point. We can’t do that. Danny also threw a ball down the field for no reason. We don’t need to do that,” Miles said.
But they got the job done.
“I feel like we played better this week but theres always room for improvement,” White said.
The real challenge for the Tigers comes next week when they open SEC play against Mississippi State.
