The preseason Associated Press Poll was released on Sunday and LSU checked in at No. 5.
Alabama was ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll followed by Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State and LSU rounding out the top five.
It’s the highest preseason ranking for the Tigers since 2012 and six Southeastern Conference teams were ranked in the top 25.
The Tigers return 17 starters on both sides of the ball after going 9-3 in their 2015 campaign.
