Legendary Memphis punk-rocker Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., better known as Jay Reatard, ripped into the scene with his first self-recorded demo tape. Jay recorded his first demo in his house using his guitar and buckets for drums, sent it to Goner Records, and the rest is history.
Before releasing his first solo album in 2006, Jay had worked on many projects including his first band The Reatards, Lost Sounds with Alicja Trout, Angry Angles (formed with then girlfriend Alix Brown), and various other projects.
He released only two solo albums before his sudden death of cocaine toxicity. Blood Visions was released on In The Red records and Watch Me Fall was released through Matador, though most of the rights were given to Fat Possum before he died. Blood Visions celebrates its 10th anniversary this coming October. You can listen to the Jay Reatard Magical Mystery Tour Wednesday, October 12 starting at 8 pm CST. -Bad Ramona
