UPDATES:
FINAL – LSU 76, Arkansas 74: Although it missed 14 free throws on the night, Craig Victor’s putback with 3.8 seconds left off of a missed three pointer from Antonio Blakeney allowed LSU to squeak out a two-point win. Four different Tigers finished in double figures, including Victor and Ben Simmons. The frontcourt duo finished the first half with four points apiece, combining for a 1-of-9 clip from the field in the half. But each scored 12 points in the second half and combined for 30 of the Tigers’ 37 total rebounds. Josh Gray finished with 15 points and Blakeney had 10 points off the bench, including two triples.
2nd half –
15:23 – LSU 48, Arkansas 46: After a rough first half offensively for Victor and Simmons, the duo has begun the second half with more aggression. The post tandem have combined to score 10 of the Tigers’ first 12 points of the second half. Victor is up to 10 points after not hitting a field goal in the first half. Both have combined for 24 rebounds.
10:15 – LSU 56, Arkansas 56: Victor is now up to a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but the Razorbacks have stay in with a balanced scoring effort. All 10 players in Arkansas’ rotation have scored. Kingsley has shrugged off a tough first half to score six second-half points.
7:51 – Arkansas 61, LSU 58: The Tigers continue to leave points at the free throw line. LSU is 11-of-24 from the charity stripe. Simmons and Victor are combined 8-of-16 from the line. Bell now has 19 points with a 4-of-7 clip from three-point territory.
3:43 – LSU 69, Arkansas 67: Combined with Simmons’ aggressiveness, the Tigers are starting to hit free throws. Simmons, Victor and Gray are all in double figures. Razorbacks have only hit two of their last eight attempts.
1:14 – LSU 74, Arkansas 72: Aided by Hannahs triple from the wing, the Razorbacks are in striking distance with a little more than a minute left. But the Tigers now have four different players in double figures. Simmons leads LSU with 16 points and 18 rebounds.
03.8 – LSU 76, Arkansas 74: The Razorbacks had a chance to take the lead on a three-point play from Anton Beard, but his attempt was off. Then, Arkansas regained possession on the loose ball, but LSU freshman Antonio Blakeney stole it away. Blakeney’s three-point attempt was off, but Victor collected the miss and scored.
HALF – Arkansas 40, LSU 36: The difference, so far, has been the Tigers inability to hit free throws and Bell’s 14 points with a 3-of-6 clip from three-point territory. Although it is just 12-of-28 from the field, LSU has missed nine free throws while the Razorbacks have knocked down five treys. Simmons and Victor are combined 1-of-9 from the field despite a total of 18 rebounds between the two. Gray leads LSU with 11 points but now has two fouls.
1st half -
15:46 – LSU 10, Arkansas 5: The Tigers have handled Arkansas’s full-court pressure well to start, and Gray has led LSU offensively thus far. The senior guard has six of the Tigers first 10 points. Hornsby’s hoop and harm just before the timeout gave LSU the five-point lead.
11:32 – LSU 14, Arkansas 12: The Tigers have hit a scoring lull as the Razorbacks have cut the deficit. LSU has missed its last five shots and has hit just two of its last eight attempts.
7:57 – Arkansas 23, LSU 19: Patterson ended a scoring drought of more than three minutes, but the Tigers haven’t much success at the free throw line, going just 6-for-12 from the stripe. Anton Beard has come off the bench for the Razorbacks and poured in seven points.
3:03 – Arkansas 35, LSU 30: The Tigers continue their struggles from the free throw line but aren’t getting much production from Victor and Simmons outside of rebounding. The frontcourt duo have 15 of LSU’s 18 rebounds but are combined 1-of-9 from the field. Hornsby has scored two straight baskets for the Tigers, but Arkansas is responding with its own buckets.
