LSU sophomore pitcher Alex Lange has been named a Perfect Game Preseason First-Team All-American, the organization announced Monday morning. Along with Lange, junior outfield Jake Fraley was named to Perfect Game’s third-team roster.
Lange, the 2015 SEC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, leads the No. 7 Tigers’ starting rotation in 2016, coming off a 12-0 season with a 1.97 ERA in 114 innings.
Fraley is the most veteran position player currently on the Tigers’ roster after the Tigers’ lost eight starters to either graduation or the MLB draft. The lefty finished his sophomore season with a .307 batting average, leading the team in batting average in eight NCAA tournament games in 2015.
LSU opens up its 2016 slate with a three-game series against Cincinnati at Alex Box Stadium, beginning on Feb. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
