The Kappa Alpha Order will no longer be able to use “Old South” or any similar names for its events, according to a statement from Jesse Lyons, the fraternity’s assistant executive director of advancement.
“The Executive Council, or national board of directors, of Kappa Alpha Order recently amended an existing regulation to prohibit Active Chapters from sponsoring functions with the name Old South, or similar name,” Lyons’ statement said. “All chapters will be expected to comply with this regulation. Chapters that are in good standing will still be able to hold a formal or week of philanthropic events.”
Lyons also said the fraternity passed a resolution recommending the name “Rose Ball” as a replacement.
