LSU fullback and linebacker Ronnie Feist announced on Thursday through an Instagram post that he would be transferring to the University of Texas at San Antonio to finish his football career with former LSU recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson.
Feist, a 6-foot-1, 234-pound Edgard, Louisiana native, moves to join Wilson, who recruited Feist in 2011-12 while Feist was at West St. John High School.
Feist’s loss, along with the departure of senior Deion Jones, thins LSU’s linebacking corp more. However, Feist’s move doesn’t leave the Tigers empty-handed, as junior Kendell Beckwith announced he will return for his senior season, along with the addition four-star outside linebacker Michael Divinity Jr, according to 247sports.com.
Feist, a four-year junior at LSU, redshirted his sophomore season with the Tigers, and only played in 15 games donned in purple and gold, accruing one tackle in the 2015-16 season.
After the loss of fullback John David Moore to a season-ending knee injury against Alabama on Nov. 7, Feist saw most of his play in six games this season as a backup fullback to freshman Bry’Keithon Mouton.
Fiest joins ex-Tiger wide receiver John Diarse in transferring to a Texas university, as Diarse joined TCU in early January.
