Student charged with three counts of drug possession
University student Ali Alkahby, 19, was charged with three counts of drug possession April 28 following an anonymous tip made to LSUPD, said LSUPD spokesperson Lt. Kevin Scott. Officers made contact with Alkahby at his room in Blake Hall, where he voluntarily surrendered the drugs in his possession and consented to a room and vehicle search that revealed additional narcotics, Scott said. LSUPD officers confiscated Xanax, Adderall and Promethazine from Alkahby’s room and vehicle.
Man arrested for drug possession during traffic stop on Nicholson Dr.
On May 1, a 27-year-old Brandon Marcantel was booked on drug possession and improper lane usage during a traffic stop on Nicholson Dr, Scott said. He consented to a vehicle search at the time of the traffic stop, which revealed the controlled substances, Scott said.
Man arrested at LSU Student Union for attempted bike theft
Ryan Johnson, 25, was arrested on charges of criminal damage, attempted bicycle theft and possession of burglary tools on June 8, Scott said. Scott said bystanders contacted LSUPD, and when officers arrived on the scene they observed Johnson attempting to cut a bike lock with a knife. Johnson had a warrant out for his arrest by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s office at the time of his arrest.
Student charged with simple burglary, public urination at Sigma Chi Fraternity house
At 1:00 a.m. on June 8, 21-year-old student Logan McCaughey and an unknown individual urinated on the back door of the Sigma Chi Fraternity house, forced their way into the backyard and removed a chair before fleeing the scene, Scott said. McCaughey was charged with simple burglary and criminal mischief. Scott said the investigation into the second individual is ongoing.
Student booked for felony theft involvement at student bookstore
Scott said 17-year-old student Dominique Green was booked for felony theft after collaborating with a friend to steal $1,030 worth of merchandise from the campus Barnes and Noble, where Green was an employee. Most of the merchandise was recovered by management, and a further investigation is ongoing.
Woman arrested for DUI following motor vehicle crash
Germana Lopez, 26, was booked on charges of DUI and reckless operation of a motor vehicle following a motor vehicle crash June 11. Scott said LSUPD officers arrived at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine parking lot after a complainant claimed Lopez was trying to flee the scene of the accident. Scott said Lopez was detained and brought to LSUPD headquarters where she submitted to a chemical test for intoxication and blew a .163 grams percent BAC.
Staff member booked after altercation with LSUPD officers
On June 13, 26-year-old University staff member Rebekah Jones was booked on one count of battery on a police officer, one count of remaining after forbidden and two counts of resisting arrest, Scott said. Scott said officers arrived at the Sea Grant building when Jones refused to leave at the request of LSU Human Resources. Scott said Jones initiated physical contact against two LSUPD officers while resisting arrest and officers were forced to subdue her.
