LSU’s roller coaster of a season will end in the Sunshine State.
The Tigers accepted a bowl bid to play in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Dec. 31 and will square off versus Louisville and its high-powered offense, powered by Heisman trophy candidate Lamar Jackson. Jackson leads the Cardinals’ 14th-ranked passing offense, which averages 45.3 points per game.
Kickoff time is set for 10 a.m.
December 31 will be LSU’s first appearance to Orlando since 2010 when the Tigers lost 19-17 against Penn State in the Capital One Bowl.
The Tigers have never played versus Louisville, but LSU faithful are familiar with its coach, Bobby Petrino, who coached at Arkansas from 2008 to 2011.
Petrino and the Cardinals started the season 4-0 and were ranked as high as No. 3 in the AP Poll. The Cardinals were also in contention for a College Football Playoff spot, but a 36-10 loss to then-unranked Houston and a 41-38 loss to Kentucky ended those hopes.
Tigers end season ranked in AP and Coaches Poll
After being ranked No. 5 in the preseason, LSU finishes the regular season ranked No. 19 in the country.
LSU began the season with a 16-14 loss to then-unranked Wisconsin and fell to No. 21.
The Tigers were one of four Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the AP top 25. LSU also ends the season ranked No. 20 in the Amway Coaches Poll.
