The state attorney general’s office arrested Christopher Mcallister, an entomology Ph.D. student, early yesterday afternoon on charges of soliciting sex from a minor.
Mcallister allegedly sent pornography online to someone who he thought was an underage girl, said Jennifer Cluck, the assistant public information officer.
The girl was actually an agent with the High Technology Crime Unit involved in a “proactive investigation,” looking for individuals soliciting sex from minors.
Mcallister was taken to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison last night after his arrest, Cluck said.
Cluck said the High Technology Crime Unit investigates all online crimes, and 80 percent of those crimes involve child pornography or solicitation to minors.
Further details of his arrest could not be obtained by press time.
