Delta Tau Delta will receive its charter this semester after an unusually long waiting period.
The fraternity has been working toward its charter since it returned to campus in 2000. Delta Tau Delta first came to campus in 1966 and left in the mid-90s, when the fraternity voluntarily removed itself from campus because of low numbers, said Victor Felts, director of Greek Affairs and assistant dean of students.
Felts said Delta Tau Delta has taken longer than most to qualify for its charter because of difficulties recruiting members.
Grady Savoie, chapter president, said the chapter has taken a long time to qualify for its charter because many of its recruits were upperclassmen.
The fraternity kept applying for its charter, and this semester is the first time Delta Tau Delta has met the membership requirement.
