Police discover victim’s body near campus
The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide after a man’s body was found near campus Monday.
A man walking his dog at 8:25 a.m. near the intersection of River Road and Aster Street discovered the body on the levee, said Cpl. Mary Ann Godawa.
The body was wrapped up in material, and it appears someone dumped it where the man walking found it, Godawa said.
Police describe the victim as a black male, possibly in his 20s or 30s. It appears the man was shot to death, but officers do not know this for certain.
Detectives hope to identify the body through fingerprints, Godawa said.
Godawa said officers do not know if the man has any affiliation with LSU.
Anyone with information on this homicide should contact the Homicide Division at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
