Police arrested an individual Nov. 10 for driving while intoxicated after he drove through a stop sign.
Police charged Robert Beatson Massa, 21, of 4217 Iowa Ave., Kenner, La., on charges of first offense DWI, disobeying a stop sign and unilluminated back-up lamps.
Police observed an individual disobey a stop sign on South Stadium Drive. After passing the stop sign, the individual allegedly backed his car up, and the officer observed the car’s rear back-up lights were not working, said LSUPD Sgt. Paul Cryer.
The officer stopped the vehicle and smelled an alcoholic odor on the individual. He also observed the individual had poor balance and glassy eyes, Cryer said.
The individual allegedly refused all tests, including a blood alcohol test.
Police can charge an individual on DWI charges even though he may refuse a blood alcohol test if there are obvious signs of intoxication.
Police booked Massa into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
