Rock climbing, wrestling, human jousting and sumo wrestling are not normal events for the Union, but students have the opportunity to participate in all of them Friday night.
University students are invited to Late Night LSU, an event the Union Program Council sponsors.
The fun will begin at 10 p.m. and last until 2 a.m.
The event is free for all students with their University identification card, and each person can bring one guest without an ID.
Participants can check in by the front steps of the Union and on the first floor by McDonalds.
A wide variety of inflatable games, free bowling and billiards at Tiger Pause, Playstation 2 games on huge projector screens and many other events spread throughout the Union will provide hours of entertainment for participants.
Mini-massages from Body, Mind and Spirit will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Also, the UPC Black Culture is sponsoring a spades tournament.
UPC sponsors a late-night event the first Friday of every month.
“We think it’s a good way to get students involved on campus,” said UPC chair of late-night programming Kelly Kee. “This is good, positive entertainment. It’s a good alternative to other kinds of late-night activities.”
This is the second late-night event UPC has sponsored this fall. October’s event was canceled because of hurricane threats.
Approximately 700 people attended the September late-night event, and even more are expected Friday night.
“Surveys indicate we attract a good mix of people from both on and off campus,” Kee said.
