LSUPD and BRPD are investigating past burglaries for a connection to a burglary that occurred Oct. 22 and led to the arrest of two individuals.
Police arrested Rachella Druilhet, 41, and Jeremy Ortega, 18, at 2:30 a.m., on charges of simple burglary and possession of stolen property.
Police still are searching for a third suspect who fled the scene.
An LSUPD officer observing the Kirby Smith parking lot heard a window break and observed two male subjects kneeling between a parked car and a white suburban occupied by Druilhet.
Police later determined Druilhet allegedly was with the two males burglarizing the vehicles.
Police took Druilhet into custody and pursued the males by foot. LSUPD blocked off the area around the parking lot and called BRPD for assistance.
Police took Ortega into custody after a BRPD K-9 located him under a house on Aster Street.
Police are clearing past burglary cases based on information gained from suspects and evidence, police said.
Cpt. Mark Shaw, with LSUPD, said there were burglaries on campus that police are investigating in connection with the suspects.
Police are unable to connect the suspects with outdated cases because the suspects got rid of what they were stealing quickly, Shaw said.
Police have connected the suspects with five cases and raised the charges to five counts of simple burglary of motor vehicles and an undetermined number of counts on possession of stolen items.
Shaw asks for victims to continue reporting crimes so resources can be dedicated to solving the problem.
As a result of these arrests BRPD also was able to make several off-campus arrests.
