Delta Zeta sorority and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity won Sorority and Fraternity of the Year respectively at Saturday’s Greek Achievement Awards.
Pi Sigma Epsilon, a professional marketing and sales fraternity, hosts the event to give back to the Greek community, said event coordinator Kristin Harney, a marketing senior.
“They get such negative press, particularly recently, and we wanted to do something to honor them,” she said.
Jason Feder, a business junior and member of Delta Tau Delta, agreed.
“We do a lot of good, but sometimes the bad is what is concentrated on,” he said.
Delta Zeta brought home the most awards, including Sorority of the Year, Greek Unity Award and Best New Pledge Class.

“I’m so proud of them for all they’ve done,” said the mass communication senior.
Zeta Tau Alpha won four awards, including the Spirit Award and Best Adviser.
Microbiology senior Jessica Gautreaux was most excited about Zeta Tau Alpha’s Philanthropy Excellence Award.
“It’s something we’ve put a lot of effort toward,” she said. “This was a great gesture for [Pi Sigma Epsilon] to make toward us.”
The judges, former IFC advisor Hagi Bradley, immediate past president of the Panhellenic Council Meredith Brexler and IFC Vice President of Recruitment Brad Golson, scored the blind entries, and Pi Sigma Epsilon selected the winners based on those judgments.
