The Baton Rouge Police Dept. obtained a warrant for the arrest of Marcus Thomas on Thursday in the shooting death of a Southern University football player in front of the Varsity Theater on Jan. 24.
James Allen, a 23-year-old sophomore and offensive lineman, was involved in an argument inside the Varsity, and the group was escorted outside.
Once the group moved outside, someone pulled out a gun and shot Allen in the head.
He collapsed and died at 1:50 a.m., and the killer escaped.
A police news release said while Allen was involved in a fight with another person that night, Marcus Thomas allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Allen.
Thomas is 27 years old. He is black, 5’11” and weighs 150 pounds.
Thomas’ last known address is 3055 Jefferson Ave. in Baton Rouge.
