For the first time this basketball season, the entire LSU student body will get the chance to see the Tigers face a Top 25 team in the PMAC.
With No. 5 Florida coming to Baton Rouge for tonight’s nationally televised matchup between the Gators and the Tigers, LSU players are expecting a lot from the hometown crowd.
“It should be crazy,” said senior forward Ronald Dupree, who is known for his crowd-pleasing dunks. “I think the students should be excited to finally be a part of it.”
The Tigers two biggest wins of the season came in the PMAC, but the wins were over the Christmas break.
They defeated the then No. 1 team in the country, Arizona, 66-65 on Dec. 21 before a nationally-televised, and also took down No. 7 Mississippi State, 85-72, on Jan.11.
Dupree knows how important a rowdy crowd can be to a team’s mindset.
“We had some serious wins during the break,” Dupree said. “So hopefully [students] will come out and support us. We definitely need the support, and we need the win. That sixth man will definitely be a help.”
LSU is 11-1 on the season at the friendly confines of the PMAC, with its only loss coming to Ole Miss, 67-57, on Jan. 18.
The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive John Brady bobblehead dolls.
