The No. 2 LSU women’s basketball team will look to build on its four game winning streak today as the Lady Tigers take on Temple in Philadelphia, Pa., tonight.
Coming off an 80-35 win over Southern Miss last Sunday, LSU (4-0) is led by junior Seimone Augustus, who is averaging 22.8 points per game this season.
Temple (1-0), coming off a 68-61 victory over Brown last Friday, is led by junior Candice Dupree, who put up a game high 25 points and 12 rebounds against Brown, as well as going 13-for-17 from the free-throw line, falling just one free-throw shy of tying the previous school record set by Mimi Carrol in 1986.
The Lady Owls will look to knock off its first ranked opponent since 1989 when Temple defeated No. 20 Rutgers in the Atlantic 10 semifinals 81-68.
Following their game tonight, LSU will head to Boulder, Colo., for the Coors Classic hosted by the University of Colorado to take on the University of Maryland on Friday.
Friday’s matchup will mark the first time LSU has met Maryland since the Lady Tigers knocked Maryland out of last season’s NCAA tournament 76-61, in advancing to the Sweet 16.
Leading the Lady Terrapins will be sophomore Shay Doran, averaging 20.5 points through two games this season.
Maryland (2-0) is coming off its home-opener last Friday, defeating Siena 73-52.
