The Vet School will be transformed into a family attraction on Saturday when it holds an open house.
The 22nd annual “Cirque du Tigre” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
A Vet School press release said a self-guided tour will allow visitors to interact with students, faculty and staff who can provide information on exhibits and the Vet School itself.
There will be 56 exhibits and events all along the outside of the building, said Kristan Roetker, Veterinary Medicine Coordinator.
“I think that there are people that do not know we are here,” said Roetker. “They can find out who we are.”
The open house will feature a petting zoo, a raptor and wildlife rehab center and teddy bear repair exhibit, Roetker said. A new exhibit this year is an exhibit displaying the school’s underwater treadmill for dogs.
Roetker said 6,000 to 8,000 people are expected to attend the event. Last year, the event drew 6,000 people despite poor weather.
“This is a real opportunity to see what it means to the people who work here,” Roetker said.
Roetker said that those who attend should expect the open house to be an all-day event.
