The LSU women’s tennis team notched their forth straight victory on Wednesday as the Lady Tigers swept past Louisiana Tech and Southern University. LSU won both matches, 7-0.
The Lady Tigers improved to 4-0 on the season, having not lost a doubles match this season.
Senior Jessica Ferguson and sophomore Marina Chiarelli defeated Tech’s Saharia Uriarte and Martinez, 8-4.
Ferguson and Chiarelli also beat Southern’s Tania Hicks and Ariana Marshall, 8-1.
Ferguson won both of her sinlges matches, beating Tech’s Saharai Uriarte, 6-0, 6-0. Ferguson also got past SU’s Ariana Marshall, 6-3, 6-2.
The duo of sophomores Lauren Seaman and Camila Caliari defeated Tech’s Katie Westbrook and Annabella Duque, 8-2.
Caliari and Seaman also beat Southern’s Sarah Johnson and Jennifer Floyd, 8-0.
Senior Rocio Fantilli and Amanda Mang stayed undefeated on the season, defeating Tech’s Holly Ready and Monica Kelly, 8-2.
The No. 34 ranked duo of Fantilli and Seaman did not compete together in the matches.
Fantilli won her lone singles match, defeating Tech’s Monica Kelly, 6-1, 6-2.
Mang won both of her singles matches, defeating Tech’s Holly Ready, 6-0, 6-0. Mang also beat Southern’s Kelli Nabors, 6-0, 6-0.
Seaman swept past both of her opponets, defeating Tech’s Avril Martinez, 6-0, 7-5. Southern’s Sarah Johnson fell to Seaman 6-0, 6-0.
Caliari proved successful in singles as well, defeating Tech’s Duque, 6-1, 6-4.
After falling behind 3-0, Caliari managed to come back and win the set and match.
Caliari also beat SU’s Jennifer Floyd, 6-3, 6-0.
Sophomore Daysi Espinal beat SU’s Hicks, 6-0, 6-3. Espinal and Mang also won their doubles match, defeating SU’s Francisca Osedumme and Nabors, 8-1.
In other singles matches, Chiarelli defeated Tech’s Moncada, 6-0, 6-1.
Chiarelli also got past SU’s Osedumme, 6-1, 6-2.
The Lady Tigers will host No. 42 Purdue on Saturday at noon.
