LSU forward and team captain Jalen Reed tore his anterior cruciate ligament early in the first half of LSU’s 85-75 victory over the Florida State Seminoles. This injury will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Reed started the season off strong, after being praised by LSU Head Coach Matt McMahon for the improvements made during the offseason. Reed started in all eight games so far this season for LSU (boasting a 7-1 record) and was averaging 11.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Entering his third year wearing the purple and gold, and being one of the only few players from last year’s team, the veteran was expected to have a more significant role on both sides of the court.
However, possessing a next-man-up mentality, Reed mentioned how deep this roster construction truly is during a press conference before taking on Florida State.
“We have a lot of dogs and a lot of people who aren’t going to fold when things get tough,” Reed said. “We’re a real connected team and resilient, and I feel like we’ve shown that.”
Looking forward to the team’s next matchup. LSU Men’s Basketball will face off against Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m. CST in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
