LSU has been reaffirmed of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges; allowing LSU to continue offering degrees and qualify students for federal and state financial aid.

The process of accreditation is one LSU undergoes every 10 years by the SACSCOC, made to ensure the university still complies with their stated mission as well as 73 accreditation standards.

LSU has maintained continuous accreditation with SACSCOC since 1913.
