The South Carolina Gamecocks will host College GameDay this Saturday as they take on the No. 16 ranked LSU Tigers.
Both teams had two different stories last week.
LSU struggled against Nicholls State at home with the score being 23-21 at one point in the third quarter. However, they pulled away, eventually winning 44-21.
On the other hand, South Carolina dominated Kentucky on the road, winning 31-6.
As LSU gets ready for the Gamecocks, here are a few players that the Tigers need to be on the lookout for on both sides of the ball.
LaNorris Sellers
The redshirt-freshman quarterback has taken over the reins for the Gamecocks after the departure of former starter Spencer Rattler went off to the draft.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 242 pounds, Sellers is a player to watch out for. Although he struggled in week one versus Old Dominion, he seemed to find his footing the following week against Kentucky as he completed 71% of his passes, while also throwing two touchdowns.
What makes Sellers so dangerous is his arm strength and his ability to improvise and extend plays. In the press conference Monday, head coach Brian Kelly talked about what Sellers brings to the table.
“This is a big, physical quarterback,” Kelly said. “A guy with a strong arm that can certainly get the ball down the field.”
With an LSU defense that has been known for giving up big plays and have trouble stopping mobile quarterbacks, the freshman can be a problem for the Tigers.
Dylan Stewart
As one of the most talked about players in college football right now, Dylan Stewart has been wreaking havoc. The former five-star and No. 2 edge in the country has been making waves for his performance the past two weeks.
With a defense that ranked second in the nation for sacks, this true freshman is also second on the team when it comes to sacks with 2.5 on the season. He has also forced 2 fumbles.
The 6-foot-6, 248-pound freshman has been hard to stop. The mixture of speed, strength, size and athleticism makes him an offensive tackles’ worst nightmare.
He’s able to get low to the ground and use his speed to blow right past the opposing team’s tackle.
There was a viral clip from Stewart where was triple-teamed by a tight end, right tackle and running back, yet he was still able to apply pressure and force the throw out of bounds.
The matchup between Stewart and LSU’s star offensive tackles will be a must-watch on Saturday.
Raheim Sanders
In his first two seasons with Arkansas, running back Raheim Sanders has 2,401 total yards of offense and 18 touchdowns.
Nicknamed “Rocket”, he looked to be one of the most dynamic players in the SEC, but after a decline in his junior season, Sanders decided to enter the transfer portal and found a new home with the Gamecocks.
So far in his senior campaign, Sanders has ran for 142 yards on 37 carries with two rushing touchdowns.
Although his numbers don’t pop off the page, he still has the big-play ability, which can hurt LSU’s defense. Sanders leads the SEC in missed tackles with 17.
With an LSU defense that has been struggling to tackle and giving up 150 yards last week against Nicholls State, Sanders may be a factor that many people aren’t talking about.
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer talked about Sanders’ effort and physicality on Tuesday in a press conference.
“The touchdown that Rocket scored at the end of the game, that was great individual effort and physicality running through people,” Beamer said.
Although Beamer explained how they want a more efficient rushing attack and more explosive plays, he still liked what he saw and it’s only a matter of time before Sanders breaks off a big one.
