The LSU tigers played in the Texas Bowl in NRG Stadium against the Baylor bears and won 44 – 31.
Notably on offense, Nussmeier had 304 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception. At the award ceremony after the game, he won MVP of the Texas Bowl.
Trey’Dez Green had a great game. He caught 2 touchdowns and looked like a great replacement for Mason Taylor even with his little bit of play time. He confirmed after the game that he will be starting LSU men’s basketball practice next week.
On the other side of the ball, the defense had many key plays. Unlike the beginning of the tiger’s season, the defense looked stronger than ever.
Davhon Keys had a 41-yard interception that was returned for a touchdown. The Weeks brothers, unsurprisingly, were the driving force in shutting down Baylor’s run game.
Towards the end of the second quarter, Whit Weeks hurt his ankle, and West Weeks was devastated. He broke down crying on the field. Even after losing Whit Weeks for the remainder of the game, the defense stayed strong and consistent.
Even the special teams for LSU scored a touchdown. Zavion Thomas returned a 95-yard touchdown from a kickoff return in the second quarter.
LSU was scoreless in the third quarter but picked up momentum in the beginning of the fourth. They scored another 10 points in the fourth quarter.
The tigers had a successful end to the 2024-2025 football season. Their final record is 9-4.
