LSU gymnastics Head Coach Jay Clark was very impressed with his squad’s performance against Iowa State in their home opener. LSU won 197.300 – 194.100.
“In my time here, it may be the best opening performance from top to bottom,” Jay Clark said
He is aware there were nervous hiccups here and there, but overall, the tigers did great.
Clark said Haleigh Bryant’s recovery is still indefinite. When he has more, he will make it known.
In the meantime, Clark believes Kailin Chio is a great fill in. Chio is a freshman all-around that had an outstanding first performance in the PMAC.
“…to do what she did straight out the gate in college is outstanding. I am glad she is on our team,” Clark said.
Clark touched on if he believes the scoring will be harsher this season. While he did not directly say yes, he did say he expects the scoring this season to be “different.”
“If you know you did a great routine, let that be it,” Clark said.
Clark emphasizes to his team to not be consumed by individual scores. If they are proud of themselves and the team wins, that is enough for me.
The tigers will battle it out in the PMAC January 17, 2025, against the Florida gators. This matchup will be interesting because the Gators competed against LSU in the national championship last season.
