As a new semester starts back up, so do college parties. Whether you’re going to a bar in Tigerland or a house party, it is important to always remain safe.
According to The Tutor Link, at least 700,000 students are involved in an assault and at least 100,000 students are involved in a date rape due to drinking. Although drinking in college is very common, your safety should be top priority.
By staying aware while out, students can eliminate possible dangers such as substance abuse, sexual assault, and much more.
Some precautions that can be taken when out are making sure to keep your drinks covered, staying with your friends, and knowing where the closest exit is.
“Know your limits, stick with your friends, keep your phone charged … .the biggest thing is you need to be able to get in touch with people”, the owner of local bar, Green Rabbit Tavern, Billy Scott said.
It’s important to enjoy your college years but it’s most important to remain safe.
