A Louisiana State University professor has been suspended after making some political comments in his classroom.
LSU law professor Ken Levy was removed from the classroom on Jan. 16 during his class being taught about police and public interactions. For the time being, he is out of the classroom
His attorney Jill Craft says that student recorded the lecture and reported his remarks to administration. She makes the argument that his suspension violates the First Amendment.
Student protests have erupted on campus in support of Professor Levy saying that the treatment he is receiving is unfair.
Ryan Spalt, the president of Student Democratic Affairs, explained what he hopes will change following the protest.
“We’re hoping this protest shows LSU that everyone’s rights deserve to be protected and that they should show transparency and fairness when it comes to freedom.” Spalt said.
