LSU softball was well represented in the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Softball League Draft with four former players being selected on Wednesday night.
AUSL started in 2020, in a fantasy-style season where teams were redrafted each week. The program began playing in Rosemont, Illinois, and has expanded over the past four years where the athletes were able to play two small seasons each year.
This year’s draft included four former Tigers: Carley Hoover, Aliyah Andrews, Sahvanna Jaquish and Ciara Briggs.
Hoover was selected by the Blaze No. 2 overall. At LSU she was a two-time NFCA All-American pitcher, but was not originally a LSU commit. After an injury redshirt at Stanford, Hoover transferred to Baton Rouge in 2015 where she stayed for the remainder of her eligibility.
Hoover was known as a flamethrower, racking up 71 career wins and 1.74 career ERA across 138 appearances.
The Blaze also selected Andrews for its fourth-round pick, No. 15 overall. Andrews played outfield for five years at LSU, gaining an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. Andrews was speedy at the top of the lineup for the Tigers, and was known for her diving catches in center field.
“Aliyah Andrews is that highlight reel out in the outfield, and we’ve seen it year in and year out, even when she was at LSU,” former Texas A&M softball player Amanda Scarbrough said. “She has so much star power with the ground that she covers. She will give up her body to track down balls and get outs for her pitchers.”
Andrews finished her collegiate career with a .353 batting average, a .981 fielding percentage and 145 stolen bases across 268 games played.
Jaquish was selected by the Talons in the sixth round, No. 22 overall. As a Tiger, she was the first four-time NCFA All-American. Jaquish was a utility player, catching and playing designated player, first base and third base.
“I think Sahvanna Jaquish is one of the biggest picks, steals that you can get,” Scarbrough said. “I think this is massive.”
She holds the all-time LSU record of 262 RBI, and finished in the top five in career slugging percentage, on base percentage, doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases, walks, intentional walks and sacrifice flies her senior year.
Briggs was the final Tiger selected in the 2025 AUSL Draft. The Blaze selected her as their 10th-round pick, No. 37 overall. Briggs was the first collegiate softball player in NCAA history and second LSU athlete to win back-to-back Gold Gloves when she did it in 2022 and 2023.
Briggs finished her career at LSU with a .350 batting average, .987 fielding percentage and 53 stolen bases across 258 games played.
In 2025, AUSL will travel to 6-8 cities before switching to the typical city-based format in 2026. The four former Tigers will be tested in the inaugural season, and three of them will get to work together again.
