With the LSU Baseball season only two weeks away, fans have a close eye on the pitching lineup for this season. This has added a lot of pressure on Pitching Coach, Nate Yeskie, especially with an almost complete line up of newbies.
“Freshmen bodies look a lot different than Junior and Senior bodies,” Coach Yeskie said.
One returner, Chase Shores, who was out last season due to Tommy John surgery, has a lot of fans talking about whether or not he can perform as well as he did his Freshman year. More specifically, if his slider is the same as it was.
“He’s such a gentle giant,” Coach Yeskie said. “He’s a guy we think could give us hopefully a lot of quality innings.”
A huge thing that most pitchers need to be successful, is learning how to disguise their pitches. This helps create a false illusion in the batter’s eyes, which will either lead to a strike or a foul ball.
“Certainly the guys that pitch more throughout the season are the guys that are doing that,” Coach Yeskie said.
