LSU football head coach Brian Kelly was asked about tight end Trey’Dez Green’s involvement with the program despite recently joining the Tigers’ basketball team.
“So certainly, we’re excited about Trey’Dez,” Kelly said. “This is something he wanted to do. This is something his family and I talked about, and we talked about how this was going to be hard. You’re playing in the SEC in both basketball and football.”
Green made his highly-anticipated hardwood debut on the road against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide, finishing 1-for-2 (50%) with three rebounds and a block in his first nine minutes.
Even after playing his first three games of collegiate basketball, Kelly says that Green still conditions with the football team.
“He’s involved in our weight training, so he is physically training in the weight room with our guys,” Kelly said. “He is not tapped out of that, which obviously we’re excited about, but he’s lost a little bit of weight running up and down the court from a cardiovascular standpoint, it’s a little bit different than cutting off the C-gap.”
Kelly has zero concerns about Green as a dual-sport athlete.
“We’re gonna continue to train him, and [I’m] really excited about his future,” Kelly said.
