The fight for justice isn’t just happening in courtrooms or on the streets—it’s taking root right here on LSU’s campus.
The newly formed student-led organization, The Injustice Reform, is working to address systemic issues within the criminal justice system, including prison reform and police brutality. The organization was created by students passionate about tackling injustices within the legal system.
Their mission is to provide a space where students don’t just learn about these issues but take meaningful action. Through a combination of online advocacy and face-to-face engagement, they’re inspiring more students to join their movement and push for change.
“But most importantly, they will have the power, and they will feel empowered to say more things, speak out, and take a stance on issues of injustice,” A’Shawna Smith said, the founder and president of The Injustice Reform.
The organization is already making an impact. Their first event of the semester, “Prison Reform Unlocked,” is set for Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6:30 p.m. in Coates Hall, Room 155.
