WAFB reports a high-ranking LSU attorney has been banned from a courtroom and may face penalties after violating a court order.
Judge Tarvald Smith ordered LSU Deputy General Counsel Carlton “Trey” Jones to leave after discussing confidential testimony with a witness.
“You did violate my Order of Sequestration,” Judge Smith said.
Jones is barred from the courtroom for the rest of the hearing, with possible further sanctions.
The case involves LSU law professor Ken Levy, who seeks reinstatement after being placed on paid leave for a controversial lecture.
Levy’s attorney, Jill Craft, revealed Jones informed Dean Alena Allen about evidence while she was sequestered.
Jones admitted the discussion and apologized, claiming he thought the information was common knowledge.
Levy remains on paid leave during LSU’s investigation; this is a developing story.
